As of June 2017, there are 4 thousand six hundred and forty establishments which were awarded licenses to operate as tourist establishment according to the Turkish ministry of tourism and culture.

There are 686 resorts with a 5-star classification spread over 48 provinces across Turkey. According to the Turkish ministry of tourism and culture, Antalya alone operates 343 resorts or 50% of the total 5-star resorts in Turkey.

- 15 resorts in the province of Aydin
- 9 resorts in Afyonkarahisar
- 7 resorts in each of Denizli and Bursa cities

- 5 resorts in each of Gaziantep, Konya, Koçaeli, Balikeșir, and Nevşehir

The chairman of the Hotel Association of Turkey said that the tourism sector in Turkey is very vital and important translating to a 2.5% market share of the worldwide tourism sector.
The chairman also confirmed that Turkey is a strong contender in the tourism sector offering top services in affordable prices pointing out to the increase in tourist numbers on yearly basis. Additionally, he said that Turkey has hosted 40 Million tourists in 2014.
Another official said that 5-star tourist resorts are a major factor in luring tourists from all over the world to Turkey and Antalya in particular due to its quality of services, renowned cuisine, and recreational facilities.
