How to acquire the Turkish Citizenship
A new legislation granting Turkish citizenship to foreign investors
went into effect on May 5th, 2017
Terms and condition on how to acquire the Turkish Citizenship
Any foreign investor is entitled to acquire the Turkish Citizenship provided he/she meets the following criteria:
- Real estate investment totaling 1.5 Million US Dollars
- Capital Investment totaling 1.5 Million US Dollars
Both types of investments must be held by the investor for at least 3 years according to the Turkish Council of Ministers
According to Nail Olpak - Chairman of Turkish Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association - “Each country strives to attract investors, and with the implementation of this legislation, Turkey will witness an investment movement in many fields but more notably in the real estate market”
What are the required documents when applying for the Turkish Citizenship
- Title deed (Tapu) documenting property ownership in the amount of 1.5 Million US Dollars
- Residency permit in Turkey
- Civil register documenting the investor’s social status (translated into Turkish, authenticated by Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the investor’s respective country and by the Turkish embassy)
- Family register documenting father, mother and children names (translated into Turkish, authenticated by Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the investor’s respective country and by the Turkish embassy)
- Birth certificate (translated into Turkish, authenticated by Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the investor’s respective country and by the Turkish embassy)
- Marriage certificate – where applicable - (translated into Turkish, authenticated by Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the investor’s respective country and by the Turkish embassy)
- Passport copies translated into Turkish by a sworn translator and attested by a notary public
- (4) personal photos
- Formal written application lodged at the respective city governor accompanied by all legal documents
