"Turkey Welcomes Millions of Tourists in 2023 with Ambitious Tourism Goals! Turkey's Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, announced that the country received 22 million and 945 thousand tourists during the first half of this year.
In a press conference held in Istanbul on Monday, the tourism figures for Turkey in 2023 were revealed. The Minister of Culture and Tourism confirmed that Turkey's goal is to receive 60 million tourists by the end of this year.
He pointed out that the first half of 2023 witnessed the visit of 22 million and 945 thousand tourists, and that the country aims to achieve tourism revenues of $56 billion by the end of 2023.
On the other hand, Ersoy stated that his ministry succeeded in promoting tourism efforts in Turkey globally, as they now have promotional activities in 200 countries.
He also affirmed that Turkey has risen to second place in the field of digital marketing for tourism after making significant efforts in the past five years.
Regarding efforts to enhance the resistance of an important historical landmark, the minister mentioned that Hagia Sophia in Istanbul continues to improve its earthquake resistance under the supervision of a committee of experts.
He mentioned that Hagia Sophia received approximately 21 million visitors since its reopening for worship in July 2020, after 86 years of being converted into a museum."
