Antalya witnessed a major event in the summer of 2016 by hosting “Antalya Flowers Expo 2016” in the city of Antalya located in Southern Turkey. The Expo was officially inaugurated by President Reçep Erdoğan, the former prime minister, and other ministers and city mayors. This Expo is considered the 3^rd largest in the world after the Olympics and the Soccer World Cup. The Expo offers participating countries opportunities exchange expertise and sign agriculture agreements.

The Expo registered the 2^nd highest participation after the Osaka Expo back in 1970. The Expo is expected to hold activities over 191 days covering an area of 4,800 sq. m. “Flowers and Children” was the theme chosen as the Expo branding aiming at creating a platform of communication from a perspective of sustained historical and biological diversity and green cities. The Expo 2016 has seen unprecedented cultural and entertainment activities where world-famous singers, orchestras, theater, dance, and pop-stars held concerts like; Elton John, Maroon 5, Ricky Martin, Yanni, One Republic, Enrique Iglesias, Deep Purple and Demi Lovato.
