Documents required to obtain residency in Turkey
- An authenticated and notarized copy of the Title Deed (Tapu) or yearly Rent Agreement.
- Health insurance from a Turkish insurance company valid for 1 year (2 years validity is required if you opt for a 2-year tourist residency permit).
- A valid passport with at least 1-year validity.
- Biometric personal photos (2).
- Tax Number.
First-time applicants for residency in Turkey
- A completed, printed and signed form available at goc.gov.tr
- Compile all related documents with reference to the type of residency along with the printed form.
- Visit the designated office of Immigration as per the assigned date and time accompanied by all required documents.
The office of Immigration reiterated that individuals applying for residency for the 1st time, transfer residency types from short term to long term and applying for family members and students can visit the Immigration office.
The Immigration authority also requires individuals to visit the office prior to residency expiration dates as there may be more documents needed for the particular type of residency.
The authority also stressed that upon filling the online application, the registration system provides the applicant with the specific date, time, and required documents. This guarantees applicant the right to stay in Turkey until the interview date. However, it doesn’t offer the applicant the right to exit out of or enter Turkey.
Furthermore, the authority stressed that the applicant must be present at the designated office at the specified date and time to get his/her application dealt with. Providing a contact number and a valid email is also vital.
